Roma can move into third with a win at home to Sassuolo as Jose Mourinho’s men sat back and watched Inter Milan and Lazio lose their games this weekend just as Sassuolo sit 13th in Serie A.
Roma are coming into this one behind bot Inter in second and Lazio in third on goals difference as well as points. It does mean they can draw level with Inter on points but move about Lazio with a win.
Mourinho’s side got a fantastic 2-0 win over Real Sociedad during the week, as they also beat Juventus last time out in Serie A to move on swiftly from their stunning loss to Cremonese.
Stephan El Shaarawy got back amongst the goals in midweek, as Marash Kumbulla scored late in the second half to give Roma a commanding 2-0 lead before heading to Spain on Thursday.
As for Sassuolo, they defeated Cremonese 3-2 to take them onto two wins in a row in Serie A after also defeating Lecce. It keeps them narrowly behind the top 10, however, and a win here would be one of their best of the season.
