Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a sensational move for world-class attacker Kylian Mbappe when he becomes a free agent next summer, it has been claimed.

The Frenchman has one year left to run on his current contract with Paris Saint Germain, and communicated last month that he will not be activating the optional one year extension that was written into the deal agreed last summer.

It means that PSG are keen to sell the star this summer rather than lose him on a free in 12 months time, but Mbappe himself has quashed that idea.

“I’ve already spoken about this, I’ve said that my objective is to stay at PSG, it’s my only option right now, I’m ready to come back for pre-season. Why go to the end of my contract? There is nothing to explain, people can talk”, he explained last month.

He has been a long-term target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, who could look to sign him on a free transfer once more next summer after having been burned 12 months ago.

However, now it has emerged that Arsenal could also be a potential destination for the world-class attacker, with the Gunners keen on making a move for the Frenchman should he become available.

After coming second last season and falling late on to Manchester City, Arsenal have wasted no time in refreshing their side, and have added Kai Havertz already while they also work on deals for Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice in a bid to go one better this time around.

A move for Mbappe in 12 months would be yet another massive statement of intent.
