Arsenal have the weekend to celebrate after dispatching rivals Manchester United 3-1 at the Emirates in the midday kickoff as Mikel Arteta’s young Gunners outfit keeps the pressure on Tottenham in the race for fourth in the Premier League.
With Spurs set to take on fellow London outfit Brentford later on today, Arsenal were in desperate need of a three-point haul on their home patch and duly delivered despite the return of United star man Cristiano Ronaldo.
Six points from six against both United and Chelsea in less than a week is just what the doctor ordered for Arteta and company after frustrating losses to Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Southampton, and the hope of Champions League nights returning to north London remains on, with club technical director Edu earlier today addressing how Arsenal intend to negotiate the continued rebuild under their Spanish manager.
Arsenal director Edu tells @espn on club plans for new signings: “We’re gonna focus on signing one or two players. After last summer revolution, we need the next step”. ⚪️🔴 #AFC
“We’ve our strategy ready”, Edu said to @j_castelobranco. No answer on Gabriel Jesus-Arsenal deal.

As reported by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, while citing ESPN-Brazil correspondent Joao Castelo-Branco, Edu was quoted suggesting that the club will focus on ‘one or two players’ after the bulk of the rebuild was tackled last summer with six new faces in the door at the Emirates.
The next step, as Edu put it, will likely focus on the acquisition of a key frontman to replace Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah who are both in line to leave Arsenal come the end of the season.
Recent links have put the Gunners in pole position to secure the services of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, who could very easily be one of the two pieces that Edu has made mention of.
