Ronaldo’s desire to leave Manchester this summer has been well documented. The Portuguese is yet to feature for the Red Devils this summer and missed their entire international pre-season tour.

The 37-year-old was also absent on Saturday when Manchester United lost to Atletico Madrid at Old Trafford.

However, taking to Instagram recently, Ronaldo suggested he would be back in action for United on Sunday:

On an Instagram post commenting on his exclusion from the squad for the Atlético match, Ronaldo commented: “Domingo o rei joga,” – “Sunday, the king plays.”

So, with Ronaldo seemingly set to return to action on Sunday afternoon, some United fans may be hopeful that Ronaldo, who has been linked with Chelsea, PSG, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Sporting this summer, has decided to remain at United for 2022/23.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, that is not the case:

“However, Jorge Mendes is continuing to work to find a solution for Ronaldo, and is still communicating with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid despite both clubs rejecting the idea of signing Ronaldo.

“I’m not surprised to see Ronaldo training at the highest level, as he will be an excellent professional as always.”

Despite Ronaldo still looking to leave the club, though, he may be forced to stay put at Old Trafford simply because no to club wants to sign him this summer.
