Newly-promoted Fulham have taken to social media to aim a dig at Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following the draw between the two sides on Saturday lunchtime.

Fulham twice took the lead against a tired looking Liverpool side, only to be pegged back on both occasions courtesy of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, earning the Reds a point that on balance, they were perhaps lucky to escape with.

To make matters worse, Liverpool lost key man Thiago early in the second half through injury, with the Spaniard set to be sidelined for several weeks with a muscle injury.

And, speaking after the clash between the sides, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that he didn’t believe his side deserved to win, before hinting that the pitch was to blame for the performance.

“The result is not a defeat — but the performance was a defeat.”

“I don’t want to take anything away from Fulham, they did really well.”

“We are used to more dominance but we didn’t play quick enough”, he continued.

“The attitude was not right in the beginning, then we wanted to fight back, but you don’t find it easy any more. The pitch was dry, stuff like this.”

Fulham hit back

Now, Fulham’s social media have hit back at the claim, posting a picture of the Craven Cottage turf being watered ahead of the match, and describing it as ‘absolutely lush’.

While clearly tongue in cheek, the idea that a pitch in the Premier League was somehow to blame for a subpar result is baffling to say the least.
