Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin is set to terminate his Arsenal contract and join Barcelona on a free transfer in the coming hours, according to reports.
The Spaniard has been angling for a move all summer, and was deemed surplus to requirements in north London. However, despite a strong spell with hometown side Real Betis, where he lifted the Copa Del Rey, they baulked at paying a transfer fee for the defender to take him permanently, and it was always likely that he would leave on a free transfer.

And it seems as though his destination will be the Camp Nou, with Barcelona on the lookout for another defender following Sergino Dest’s departure to AC Milan on loan for the 22/23 season.
As per Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio, a deal between Bellerin and Barca is close, while Spanish outlet Relevo, the defender and Arsenal will agree to mutually terminate his contract, which is due to expire in 12 months time.
It is added that Bellerin is willing to take a significant pay cut to make the move happen.

Maitland-Niles medical done
Meanwhile, also in the departures lounge is Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has reportedly completed his medical ahead of a loan move to Southampton.
Were he to return to north London, he would be in the same position as he has been this summer, albeit with an extra season of Premier League football under his belt.
