Chelsea are in the market for a new centre-back this summer following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
The Blues have signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli already, but are still eyeing a second central defender.
A number of players have been linked, with the latest being Wesley Fofana of Leicester City.
The defender had a superb 2020/21 but this past campaign was derailed by a pre-season injury. Regardless, Fofana is a top talent and also has experience in a back-five, making him a solid transfer choice for the west Londoners.
However, Newcastle United may indirectly prevent Chelsea from landing the Frenchman.
This comes Ben Jacobs reporting that Leicester won’t sell both James Maddison & Fofana this summer and it is not guaranteed either will leave.
However, Leicester City’s stance is that Fofana is not for sale this summer and only a big offer well above market value will change that.
Important to note, #LCFC’s stance is not for sale this window. Only a big offer, well above market value, will change that. Club got Fofana to sign a contract extension in March to basically avoid selling before next summer.

So, on top of the fact that the Foxes may not even sell Fofana this summer for anyway, Chelsea may also miss out on the centre-back if Newcastle United wrap up a deal for James Maddison first.
The Magpies saw a £40m bid rejected for Maddison recently, but given their newfound wealth, they may go back in with a higher bid.
