Liverpool fans have taken to social media in their droves to slam two players during a nightmare first half in Naples, where they headed into the break 3-0 down against a rampant Napoli side.

The Reds were let off the hook early when Victor Osimhen hit the woodwork in the first minute, before a handball from James Milner handed the hosts a penalty, which they duly converted.

A well-worked goal from Franck Zambo Anguissa after a poor defensive effort from Joe Gomez doubled the Italian sides’ lead, before another mistake from the Englishman allowed Giovanni Simeone, on as a first half substitute, a tap in with virtually his first touch of the game.

It could have been far worse too, with Osimhen missing a penalty and Van Dijk producing a goal line clearance to prevent the scoreline getting more damaging for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

With a comeback looking unlikely, it could be a case of damage preservation from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
