Dutch international and PSV captain Cody Gakpo is now the prime transfer target for Manchester United this summer as the new regime under Erik ten Hag has gotten back underway this summer.
The Red Devils have made massive strides to complete a deal for Brazilian star and Real Madrid holding midfielder Casemiro, with the five-time Champions League winner reportedly days away from completing a £60m move to Old Trafford this summer.
Reports in The Telegraph now link United with a serious interest in the 23-year-old Gakpo as Ten Hag looks to finally add quality to the forward line.
Man Utd will turn to PSV’s Cody Gakpo after having 80m euro bid for Antony turned down by Ajax. Alternative is definitely Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco. More on @TeleFootball

Interest in Gakpo has accelerated in the last day after United failed in their attempts to price Ajax Amsterdam’s Antony to the Premier League, with the Dutch giants rebuffing a ~£68m bid from the Red Devils while Antony showed no desire to leave the Eredivisie outfit this summer.
Now, United is set to make a £34m bid for Gakpo, who has been one of the standout performers at boyhood club PSV but will be made to sweat it out depending on whether or not Boeren advance to the group stage of this seasons Champions League.
Gakpo, who can play in any position across the front three, has hit 45 goals and added 37 assists across a combined 141 appearances in all competitions for PSV, including a brilliant 2021-22 Eredivisie campaign where he directly contributed to 25 goals (12 goals, 13 assists) in 27 matches.
United have also been said to be considering a possible loan move for Chelsea’s United States international star Christian Pulisic who has been left frustrated at Stamford Bridge after falling down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.
Should a move for Gakpo materialize, many United fans will hope that Gakpo would find success at the Theatre of Dreams where another former PSV starlet – Memphis Depay – crashed and burned after he too stunned the top flight of Dutch football in Eindhoven red and white.
