The Red Devils were clearly in the market for a centre-forward earlier this summer and were showing an interest in Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez.

However, Liverpool won the race for the Uruguayan and it was reported then that Manchester United didn’t immediately move on to their next target. And the feeling was that it was better to wait, with RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku on the market next summer:

Now, however, something appears to have changed at Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United football director John Murtough met the agent of RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko last week to gauge the possibility of a transfer.

It is added that United are in the market for at least one attacking addition, preferably two. This is a big change from what was reported last month. However, Erik ten Hag may have had some impact on United’s new stance, as he stressed the need for more depth in a recent interview:

“We signed [Christian] Eriksen for the midfield department, so we are really happy with that,” Ten Hag said. “And yes, I am really happy also with our performances of our midfield department and offensive department at this moment.

“So we have to strengthen the squad even more and we are looking around but we also need the right players.

“There is a reason in a number of games you need more options in offence, clear. I think it’s vital if you want to get success, the season is really long but we still also have time to fill that in.”
