Newcastle and Eddie Howe are keeping an eye on four Chelsea players this summer, though in all likelihood they will only walk away with a maximum of two, as they look to strengthen their squad in the final weeks of the window.
The Magpies have made three signings this summer, adding Sven Botman from Lille and Nick Pope from Burnley, while they made Matt Targett’s loan move from Aston Villa permanent.
But it has been a summer of near misses for the Tyneside outfit, seeing deals for the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Moussa Diaby, Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, James Maddison, Harvey Barnes all break down, while they have also seen a bid for Watford striker Joao Pedro turned down this week.

Now, they have turned their attentions to a potential firesale at Chelsea, and have asked to be kept informed about the futures of four players who look as though they could leave this summer.
Chief among those is USA star Christian Pulisic, who has been in and out of Thomas Tuchel’s plans and has struggled to stay fit since his move to Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2020.
However, as per the Telegraph, the Magpies would also be keen to take Callum Hudson-Odoi to the north east should he become available on loan this summer, something that is looking increasingly likely.
Newcastle are likely to only end up with a maximum of two of these players, with the Magpies only allowed to sign one Chelsea player on loan as per Premier League rules and FFP restraints meaning that they could only afford one major transfer fee this summer.
