Manchester United had a nightmare start to their 2022/23 campaign over the weekend.
The Red Devils lost 2-1 vs Graham Potter’s Brighton, which was the first time in the Seagulls’ history they were able to beat Brighton at Old Trafford.
And what has followed has not exactly been great for fans of the club either. David Ornstein, a very reliable source for transfer news, has reported on Monday morning that Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Adrien Rabiot from Juventus.
It is added that Manchester United must decide if they will continue to push for the Frenchman regardless of their Frenkie de Jong pursuit, or wait to see what happens with the Dutchman.
Either way, though, it is fair to say Manchester United fans are not happy with the links to Rabiot – a player who has been known to cause issues behind the scenes in the past and who has a less than friendly agent.
Just some of the reaction to the Rabiot links can be seen below:
I’d argue this is worse than not signing a midfielder

In what world do you go from De Jong to Rabiot 😭

Are you serious. What are we doing 😂😂

It should be Neves from Wolves!! Proven PL player, genuinely a great ball winner and some you can depend on. Rabiot is trouble and will be another dressing room diva like Ronaldo

The claims that United are only looking to sign people with the right kind of character is taking a bit of a hit if they bring in Rabiot and Arnautovic. https://t.co/mfISNsPla7

So hoped this was an Ornstein parody account. Rooting around in the bargain bin for bang average low-character signings. Don’t see for one minute how this fits with Ten Hag saying the other day that we’ll only sign ‘the right players’ https://t.co/kYwEfIphNv
