Kansas City Chiefs WR Rice looking to ‘move forward’

The 24-year-old has had a troubled period since helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is trying to “move forward” despite an off-season that has seen him attract the wrong type of headlines.

The 24-year-old was arrested in April following a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas with police alleging he was racing a fellow driver at speeds of up to 119 miles per hour in a Lamborghini.

He is also a suspect in an alleged assault at a Dallas nightclub with the incident occurring in May. The victim has, however, offered to drop the charges.

Despite his off-field problems, Rice is vowing to take the lessons on board.

Rice said: “I’ve learned so much from that.

”All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me.”

Rice was speaking at a youth football camp in Kansas City alongside team-mates Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore.

He added: “Accidents and stuff like that happen but all you can do is kind of move forward and walk around being the same person and try to be positive so that everybody could feel your love and your good energy.

“It’s great to be able to come out here and have impact in the community

“Especially since… memories are too short so we kind of remember exactly how it feels to be out here and how it feels wishing that we would be in the NFL.”
