Peru take on Canada tomorrow at the Copa America with both sides needing a win to kickstart their tournament.
Canada opened with a 2-0 defeat to Argentina that wasn’t entirely unexpected but coach Jesse Marsh will have taken encouragement from a largely resolute display that restricted the world champions’ opportunities.
They will need to offer more from an offensive standpoint against Peru as they go in search of a win that would put them in a strong position to qualify from Group A.
It won’t be straightforward, however, against a Peru side that earned a credible draw against Chile in their opener. Coach Jorge Fossati will hope captain Luis Advincula is passed fit after coming off after 34 minutes against Chile with Achilles pain.
