Christian Barmore has been ruled out 'indefinitely' for the New England Patriots.

New England Patriots

New England Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore has been diagnosed with blood clots, ruling him out of action indefinitely.

The NFL franchise put out a statement revealing the news and ensuring fans that the main priority is Barmore’s health.

They said their “principal concern at this time is Christian’s health and wellbeing.

“We know Christian is getting tremendous care and we look forward to his full recovery.”

The Patriots did not give an estimated return date for the DT, but Barmore did take to social media to ensure fans that he will be back “soon”.

He turned 25 on Sunday and is already in his fourth season with the Patriots after being drafted in 2021.

In April, he signed a new four-year contract with a guaranteed $41.8million and a potential value of $92m.

He is viewed by the team as a rising star and Barmore is coming off the back of a good defensive season for the Pats, leading the team with 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss.

In total, he has played 44 regular-season matches in Foxborough and has a record of 133 total tackles, 12.5 sacks and nine pass deflections.

In his absence, the Patriots will have to find a replacement and will choose from their crop that includes veterans Armon Watts and Daniel Ekuale as well as youngsters Jeremiah Pharms Jr. Sam Roberts, Trysten Hill and Josiah Bronson.
