Team USA head coach Emma Hayes is determined to dig deep and get her side over the line at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Her side made it through to the final after beating Germany 1-0 in extra-time.
It was revealed after the match that Hayes showed her players a video of ultramarathon Courtney Dauwalter talking about how she digs deep to get through the 100-mile races and the inspirational tactic certainly paid off.
Speaking to The Athletic after the match, Hayes said: “I could see today that players were having to dig to the deepest place within them.
“I’ve said this all along — the reason I want to play the team together for as long as possible is because I want them to develop that.
“I want them to suffer. I want them to have that moment because I do not believe you can win without it.”

The former Chelsea manager has been a success so far since hopping across the pond and a gold medal in her new role would be the perfect start to life as the US head coach.
She wants to make history at the Olympics and believes it will take heart to beat Brazil in the final on Saturday.
She added: “It’s about how you just have to dig something out.
“It’s heart and head, and that our group wants to create a new history for themselves.
“They did enough to get us into the final, and that’s just the next step. We have to take the next step”
