The 2024-25 NBA season will begin when the New York Knicks face the reigning Boston Celtics on 22 October.

LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers will then take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on the West Coast in a homecoming for the Olympic champion.

The Knicks finished second in the Eastern Conference last season, but were 14 wins before the Celtics.

And the New York franchise were flushed with injuries during the post-season, eventually losing to the Indiana Pacers in the conference semi-finals.

But they have gone out in the summer with the intention of closing the gap to the Celtics, recruiting Mikal Bridges in their first trade with the New York Nets since 1983.

Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves reached the Conference finals last season and will be keen to go a step further this time around.

Lakers fans may get their first glimpse of Bronny James in the NBA after the son of LeBron was drafted 55th overall in the summer.

Following the opening night, the Philadelphia 76ers and their star three of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey will take on the Milwaukee Bucks.

The LA Clippers will then showdown against the Phoenix Suns who will start Olympic champions Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Klay Thompson will make his Dallas Mavericks debut against the San Antonio Spurs on 24 October, before returning to the Golden State Warriors on 12 November to face former team-mates Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Oklahoma City Thunder travel to the Denver Nuggets on opening weekend in a matchup between the top two teams from the West last season.

Ja Morant will finally return to the Memphis Grizzlies when they play the Utah Jazz on 23 October. Morant played just nine times last season after being suspended and then suffered a shoulder injury in January.

The NBA’s Christmas feast will open with the Spurs taking on the Knicks, while the Mavericks will host the Timberwolves and the Sixers will play the Celtics.

Following those matches, the Lakers will travel to Golden State and the Nuggets will travel to the Suns.

The All-Star weekend will take place between 14-16 February and the regular season will end on 13 April.
