Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady thanked football icon David Beckham for “teaching me how to sing at a football match” after watching Birmingham City beat Wrexham 3-1 at home in the English third tier on Monday.
Wrexham, who are co-owned by Hollywood pair Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, arrived at Birmingham as the only team in League One unbeaten in their first five matches of the season – only for their opponents to match that record in style.
After McElhenney encountered some of the City players performing stretches on his way in, Brady and Beckham were pictured sitting together in the stands chatting and smiling while a dramatic night of action unfolded.

Birmingham vs Wrexham
Jack Marriott gave Wrexham – promoted from the fourth tier last season – a third-minute lead but Birmingham dominated the first half and equalised through Jay Stansfield, their new signing from Fulham whose £10 million price tag was an all-time divisional record.
Stansfield added another after the break and Tomoki Iwata made it 3-1 before a skirmish between players in the 86th minute resulted in Krystian Bielik being sent off for the Blues.

“What a night in Birmingham,” Brady told his millions of social media followers, sharing a photo of himself with six-time Premier League winner Beckham. “Can’t repeat most of what was said.”
Reynolds responded to Wrexham’s first defeat by congratulating Brady. “Tough loss to a good club,” the actor added. “Lots of season yet to go. Up the Town. Now and forever.”

Brady a mentor at Birmingham
Brady owns 3.3% of Birmingham after investing in the club in 2023. His first season at the club was a tough one, with the brief appointment of former England striker Wayne Rooney as manager leading to a slump in results that culminated in relegation from the Championship.
Speaking to Sky Sports on the pitch before Birmingham moved second in the table, Brady said his aim is to inspire the squad.
“In this part of my life, I want to see other people reach their potential,” he explained. “I was so fortunate that so many mentors came into my life at the right time, that allowed me to grow physically, mentally, emotionally.

“That mix of qualities that I was able to develop as a player, I want to pass those messages on to a lot of these guys. They’re 22, 21 years old.
“They’ve got bright futures ahead. They want to impact their families’ lives, they want to impact the community they play in. How can we help support them, as young athletes in their aspiring careers? That’s what I love being a part of.”
Birmingham are level on points with Wrexham and Charlton at the top of League One and have a game in hand on both of their nearest rivals.
