Worthy, a first-round pick for the Chiefs, now leads the team’s available wide players in receptions, yards and touchdowns.
However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes the team doesn’t intend to rely solely on Worthy to replace the production lost in the absence of Rice, who injured his knee during the Chiefs’ win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
The coach also said the team is still awaiting the full results of the tests to determine the severity of Rice’s injury, but he ruled him out for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints on Monday.
Speaking to the media, he said: “We’ve got guys here that have experience of playing in the game.
“It’s not that he’s the only one, doesn’t have to be the only one.

“We’ve got a good group of guys there that we can utilize, and we normally spread the ball around and that’s what we’ll continue to strive to do.”
In the Chargers game, Worthy made a significant impact, recording three catches for 73 yards.
One of those receptions was a 54-yard touchdown, while another was a crucial 15-yard catch late in the game that helped the Chiefs run out the clock.
Reid hinted that veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore might see more action in the offense moving forward because of the injuries.
Smith-Schuster, who rejoined the Chiefs this off-season after being released by the Patriots, led the team in receiving yards in 2022.
Tight end Travis Kelce also had his best game of the season against the Chargers, tallying seven catches for 89 yards.
Reid said: “It was good to see that, which we knew was going to happen somewhere along here.
“They played quite a bit of zone, allowed [Kelce] to work in zones, and they weren’t squeezing him on that.”
