CF Montreal go into tonight’s Eastern Conference Wild Card game against Atlanta United as favourites.
The Canadians have won five of their last seven games but playmaker Caden Clark insists they won’t be taking it easy against an Atlanta side that scraped into the post-season on the final day.
Clark told mlssoccer.com: “I mean, with the form we’re in now and it’s a home game… I think it’s fair to put us as favorites.
“We’re not going into this game thinking this is gonna be easy. You know, just show up and put in a good performance. We’re taking it very seriously and trying to keep the underdog mentality because it seems to be working for us.”
Atlanta won 2-1 at Orlando City at the weekend – results elsewhere also went their way – to set up a clash with Montreal.
Veteran goalkeeper Brad Guzan said: “As much as we wanna say, ‘Right, it’s a fresh start,’ we also want to take that momentum from Saturday night.
