LeBron James says he will ‘never forget’ history-making moment alongside Bronny

LeBron and Bronny combined as the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on an historic night

LeBron and Bronny James

LeBron James will “never forget” the moment he made history with son Bronny.

The pair became the first father-son duo to appear together in an NBA game when they took to the court for the Los Angeles Lakers in their season-opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The moment came with 4:00 left in the second quarter as LeBron, who started the game and had already played 13 minutes, reentered alongside his boy.

The 39-year-old said: “That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, something I will never forget.

“No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”

Bronny misses the three

Bronny missed a three-point attempt having been found by his dad, and went 0-2 before checking out for good with 1:19 left in the first half.

LeBron had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists as the Lakers opened with a 110-103 win.

“We had a job to do when we checked in,” LeBron said. “We wasn’t trying to make it a circus. We weren’t trying to make it about us. We wanted to make it about the team, for us to go out there and continue to play the game, the brand of basketball that the coaching staff and our teammates wanted us to play. We kept that.

“We kept the main thing while we was on the floor. And that was good for all of us.”

Watched by the Griffeys

The Jameses were watched from courtside by Ken Griffey Snr and Ken Griffey Jnr, the last father-son pair to play in the major leagues when they appeared for baseball’s Seattle Mariners in 1990.

Ken Griffey Jnr told ESPN: “As my dad would say, you got to have longevity as an older guy and your son has got to be pretty good to get there pretty quick.”

Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 36 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks.
