The veteran turned up as the Suns beat the Mavericks.

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant became just the eighth player in NBA history to reach the 29,000-point milestone, achieving the feat on Saturday night as the Phoenix Suns defeated the Dallas Mavericks 114-102.

Durant’s scoring achievement places him among the NBA’s all-time greats, a list led by LeBron James with 40,543 points.

Other members of this exclusive club include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Wilt Chamberlain, and now Durant.

On the combined NBA and ABA scoring list, Durant ranks 10th, just behind Julius Erving and Moses Malone.

Reflecting on his career accomplishment, Durant said: “I’ve got to give credit to the people who have helped me since I was a kid.

“Team-mates who passed me the ball, set screens for me, coaches who drew up plays for me.”

At 36 years old, Durant continues to shine, adding 31 points against the Mavericks to reach a total of 29,010 points over 17 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, and now the Suns.

Over his career, he’s maintained a remarkable average of 27.3 points per game across 1,064 games, winning the league scoring title four times.

Durant’s scoring prowess has been consistently impressive, with him averaging at least 20 points per game every season.

His scoring average remains high this season as well, putting up 28.7 points per game over his first three games.

Suns coach Mike Budenholzer expressed his admiration for Durant, saying: “What a tribute to a great, generational talent. I feel incredibly lucky to be around him every day.”
