Eli Manning has been announced among the semi-finalists of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP quarter-back is among 25 modern-era candidates to be named after the newly created selection committee cut down a list of 50 nominees on Wednesday.
Tight end Antonio Gates and pass rusher Jared Allen have also been announced in the list, which includes six players in their first year of eligibility – of which Manning is one – and 10 players who were finalists last year.
The other players reaching this stage in their first year of eligibility are Luke Kuechly, Terrell Suggs, Earl Thomas, Adam Vinatieri and Marshal Yanda, who all last played a professional football game in the 2019 season.
The modern-era players category will be further cut to 15 finalists. Gates and Allen were finalists last year.
Another step closer to Canton…

Manning, one of 13 QBs to win multiple Super Bowls, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of older brother, Peyton, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
Eli spent his entire professional career with the New York Giants after being picked first overall in the 2004 draft.
He helped lead the Giants to a Super Bowl victory in 2008, causing something of an upset when they overcame the undefeated New England Patriots.
Four years later, the Giants repeated that feat by beating the Patriots again to claim Super Bowl glory.
Manning finished his career with 57,023 passing yards, 366 passing touchdowns, and 244 interceptions.
