Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr was today released by the Miami Dolphins after a seventh-month stint in South Florida.
Beckham, 32, joined the Fins in May on a one-year, $3million deal but had to wait until Week 5 before making his debut due to offseason knee surgery.
In nine games with Miami, he made just nine catches for 55 yards after failing to secure the third receiver’s position behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

His departure – which was described as ‘mutual’ by ESPN – is a bit of a surprise with Miami still in the race for a postseason berth. However, they are needing help from elsewhere after accumulating a 6-7 record.
The Dolphins play on the road at Houston this Sunday in a must-win game.
The future for Beckham is less clear-cut. Assuming he clears waivers, he becomes a free agent with vast experience that could potentially do a job for a number of playoff-chasing teams.
