Randy Moss, the former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver and a member of the NFL’s Hall of Fame, has announced he is undergoing treatment for cancer.
Moss revealed on Instagram Live on Friday that he had had surgery to put a stent in his liver before undergoing a six-hour procedure last week to remove the cancer.
The 47-year-old said he will undergo radiation and chemotherapy and has stepped away from his role as an analyst for ESPN during his treatment.
“I didn’t think I would ever be in a position like this, as healthy as I thought I was,” Moss said.
“I am a cancer survivor. Some trying times, but we made it through.
“Yes, it’s going to be a tough road with some chemo and radiation, but, like I said, man, I’m good.
“I am a cancer survivor. Some trying times for sure, but we made it through.”
Glad to hear it, @RandyMoss. Thinking about and praying for you and your family as you finish treatments 🙏💜💛

“As soon as I get healthy to get back out with guys, I will be on set. Hopefully I can be with you guys soon.”
In 2018, Moss was inducted into the Hall of Fame after a 14-season career which saw him turn out for the Vikings, the Oakland Raiders, the New England Patriots, the Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers.
During his career, Moss made 156 touchdown catches, the second most in NFL history behind Jerry Rice.
