NFL: Bills Quarterback Josh Allen Discusses Playoff Win Vs. Broncos

"We just wanted to come out and play our best football, and I feel like we did that today," he said.

The Buffalo Bills beat the Denver Broncos 31-7 to advance to the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. One of the biggest moments of the game came late in the third quarter when Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen completed a ridiculous pass to running back Ty Johnson on fourth down for a touchdown to put the Bills ahead 21-7.

“Fourth down, just need to make a play there,” Allen said in the team’s post-game press conference. “Man-to-man, I felt like they played pretty good coverage on some of our underneath routes. I just extended. Ty did what Ty does and made a heck of a play for us… If we don’t get it there, the defense gets the ball with not great field position. But yeah, we made a play.”

Even though the Bills scored a touchdown on that play, they easily could have kicked a field goal to increase their lead to nine points, making it a two-possession game.

“It’s a lot of faith in the defense as well,” he explained. “We’d hoped to get that 4th and 1 more often than not. Sometimes you don’t get it, and your defense goes out there… But it speaks a lot that coach has that trust in us.”

Allen then talked about how well the team played against the NFL’s third-ranked scoring defense.

“We just wanted to come out and execute well,” he said. “We ran the ball well. Our offensive line did a heck of a job all day. Jimbo [James Cook] ran the ball hard… At the end of the day, we just wanted to come out and play our best football, and I feel like we did that today.”

Up next, the Bills will play host to the Baltimore Ravens next weekend. When those teams faced off earlier this season in Baltimore, the Ravens beat Buffalo 35-10.
