NFL: Packers Coach LaFleur Praises Eagles Following Wild Card Round Loss

"Give Philly all the credit. They certainly were the better team tonight," he said.

The Green Bay Packers fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 22-10 in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs to end their season on a three-game losing streak. The Packers made numerous costly mistakes in the game, turning the ball over four times while being penalized eight times for 85 yards.

“Well, it’s never easy when it ends like this,” said Packers head coach Matt LaFleur in the team’s post-game press conference. “Give Philly all the credit. They certainly were the better team tonight… When you come into somebody else’s house – against a really good football team – you can’t start the way we did.”

LaFleur was referring to the opening kickoff, which Green Bay fumbled away, setting up Philadelphia’s first touchdown of the game just three plays later.

“To fumble the opening kick, and then them turn it into a touchdown and be down 7-0 from the jump, it was obviously too much to overcome,” he explained.

LaFleur then highlighted some of the positives the Packers had in the game. Unfortunately, he felt that only one unit played to its full potential.

“I appreciate the heck out of our guys in that locker room,” LaFleur said. “Those guys show up every day with a great attitude, great energy, and competed. I thought defensively we played winning football. Offensively and on special teams, we had too many mistakes. We can’t overcome those against a really good football team. Give Philly all the credit. They deserved it.”

LaFleur wrapped things up by talking about the offense’s struggles before going over players who sustained injuries in the game.

“It was hard tonight,” he said. “You’d like to be able to lean on some of the things in the run game, and it was just a little bit of a struggle. We’ll take a look at it, and we’ve got to come up with better answers. I think it all starts with just staying ahead of the sticks, though. And, being efficient on offense. I don’t know what the third-down numbers were, but I’m guessing they weren’t very good… It’s all the little details that I think really make a difference in terms of just being able to convert in a lot of those critical situations.”
