Aaron Rodgers had a comeback to forget as the New York Jets lost his first match in action after a year out through injury.

The oldest player in the NFL said he was “thankful” after returning from the torn Achilles he suffered in the first game of the 2023 season.

“It’s been a while,” he said. “I felt great and have a lot of gratitude. So many people helped me to get to this spot.”

Rodgers’ road to recovery will be revisited in a new Netflix documentary, Enigma, which will be shown later this year.

In a trailer for the show, Rodgers speaks about American football while his bandaged leg is raised and held by a pair of hands on a plane.

“Listen, I believe in the power of prayer and intention,” he says in the clip. “From the night this happened, hours after that, I was surrounded by a bunch of really special people in my life.

How to watch Aaron Rodgers: Enigma

The documentary will be shown on Netflix in three episodes as part of a new batch of sports series announced by the platform.

It is co-produced by the group Religion of Sports, which was co-founded by NFL legend and newly-turned broadcaster Tom Brady.

Netflix is available to set up on a variety of devices, including TVs, phones, and tablets, with an app helping users to watch on the move.

When is the Rodgers documentary out?

The documentary will be released on the platform on December 17. Part of the team behind it were also responsible for Rising, a documentary about American gymnastics great Simone Biles.

By the time the series is out, Rodgers will be 41 and his career on and off the pitch is certain to have encountered more of the drama he has become known for.

The Jets were beaten 32-19 by the San Francisco 49ers in their opening match of the 2024 season at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
