Jahmyr Gibbs is relishing the chance to silence the Detroit Lions doubters after propelling his team to the number one seed in the NFC.
Gibbs claimed four touchdowns as the Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings 31-9 to clinch the NFC North title and a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Detroit finished with a 15-2 record – the most wins in a single season in franchise history – but Gibbs does not feel the team is getting the credit it deserves.
“We’re obviously having a better season this year, and I think everybody is still counting us out a little bit, so being able to shut them up a little bit feels good,” he told ESPN.
Gibbs, who broke the franchise record for touchdowns in a season, finished with 23 carries for 139 yards and five catches for 31 yards in a brilliant all-round display against the Vikings.
“He was big, and I felt like he gained steam as the game went on,” said head coach Dan Campbell. “I thought he got better and better and better, and you could really feel it.”
Lots of options, but went with the record breaker 😉@Jahmyr_Gibbs1 pic.twitter.com/aJqVTJIAv2

The Lions head into the postseason brimming with confidence but cornerback Amik Robertson said the hard work had just begun.
“We happy about this. This is what we needed. But it’s that 24-hour rule. We know what our goal is, we’re going to get rest.
“We was able to come up short last year, so we know what our goal is. Enjoy this victory and get back to the lab, because we understand what we want to do.”
