San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been released from hospital after being shot in the chest on Saturday during an attempted robbery.
The 23-year-old was in a “serious but stable condition” after the bullet went straight through and out of his back, missing his vital organs.
Pearsall’s mother spoke on social media following the incident, claiming her son was incredibly lucky to be alive.
A 17-year-old was arrested on the day of the shooting and the 49ers player has already spoken to police about the incident.
In a statement from the authorities, a physical altercation between the two took place, with both picking up injuries and as a result were transferred to hospital.
Multiple shots were fired and the suspect was said to be acting alone. A swift arrest was made and Pearsall should hopefully make a full recovery.

He was drafted by the 49ers in the first round earlier in the year, but has been limited in his involvement due to injuries.
Pearsall missed plenty of time during the training camp due to hamstring and shoulder issues and his return to the team is unknown after his recent incident.
He starred for both Arizona and Florida during his college days, making 65 catches for 965 yards in his final season.
With four touchdowns to his name, the Niners are hopeful Pearsall can contribute as a steady backup to Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk in his first year.
