Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a day for the record books this Sunday. On the road – against the 7-6 Los Angeles Rams – Allen threw for 342 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 82 yards and another three TDs on the ground, making him the first player in NFL history to throw for three touchdowns and rush for three touchdowns in a single game. Despite his historic performance, the Bills were unable to defeat the Rams, falling to LA 44-42.
Allen didn’t speak long of the loss. In fact, his postgame press conference only lasted two minutes and 17 seconds. For the little time that Allen did speak, he wasn’t in the mood to celebrate his monumental day on the gridiron.
“I hate losing,” Allen said. ” If you lose by two or lose by 100, it doesn’t matter. You’re still losing.”

Allen kept going back to the offense not doing enough for the Bills to beat the Rams.
“Offensively, we have to find ways to score before the half and after the half,” Allen commented. “We didn’t do our part.”
From there, Allen took responsibility for the loss, something one would expect from a team captain and MVP candidate.
“We gotta make one more play than they do, however it may be. It was a total team loss on all three phases [of football],” Allen explained. “We feel like we didn’t play up to our standard, and it starts with me… We have to come out with urgency. I don’t think at any phase of the game we did that today.”
Though a loss, this game could be a huge victory for Allen’s legacy. Allen is in the running for the 2024 MVP award, an award that he’s currently favored to win. With today’s performance, Allen is now in the top ten in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and passer rating. Plus, he’s second in pass completions of at least 20 yards and fifth in the NFL in rushing touchdowns (you read that right).
Allen will not celebrate anything if the result is a loss, but he still had a generational game on December 8th, 2024 that we can all celebrate.
