Just one week after becoming the first player in NFL history to throw for three touchdowns and run for another three touchdowns in the same game, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen followed that up with a 48-42 win over the NFC’s top-seeded Detroit Lions.
Josh Allen was absolutely electric in this game. He completed 23 of 34 passes for 362 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. On top of that, he added another 68 yards on the ground as well as two touchdowns bringing his scoring output to four total touchdowns on the day.
“The mindset that we had this week was to win every play,” Allen explained during a post-game press conference. “Whatever the play was, find a way to execute at the highest level. We were just focused on the next one. The guys made some really good plays tonight.”
While Allen is the star of the show for Buffalo, the former first-round pick made sure to give recognition to the running back group’s performance against Detroit.
“Ty [Johnson] had a big game receiving. Ray [Davis] in the short yardage stuff and scoring a touchdown,” Allen said. “And Jimbo [James Cook] running really hard. That’s a big credit to our offensive line for giving them opportunities to go and make some plays.”
Though the Bills offense put up 40+ points in their second-straight game, Allen still expects more from his unit.
“I think we have guys who have bought in,” Allen said. “It’s the run game that sets up the pass game, and vice versa. I feel like I missed a couple of throws tonight. We can always find ways to be better, so we’ll look at the film and look forward to next week.”
Josh Allen did suffer an injury toward the end of the game. However, he described the injury as just a “funky feeling.”
“I was able to throw, and I don’t feel any pain right now,” Allen said. “It was just more precaution than anything.”
