Six-time Pro Bowl defensive end Calais Campbell is returning to the Arizona Cardinals, where his NFL journey began, after signing a one-year contract on Tuesday.
While the Cardinals did not disclose financial details, reports from ESPN and NFL Network indicate the deal is worth $5.5 million, with a maximum value of $7.5 million.
Campbell, 38, was originally drafted by Arizona in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft and spent his first nine seasons with the team. He later played for the Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-19), Baltimore Ravens (2020-22), and Atlanta Falcons (2023).
Most recently, Campbell suited up for the Miami Dolphins in 2024, recording 52 tackles (12 for loss), 12 quarterback hits, and five sacks.
Over his 261-game career (242 starts), he has accumulated 917 tackles, 266 quarterback hits, 110.5 sacks, 18 forced fumbles, 13 fumble recoveries, and three interceptions. His 187 tackles for loss are the most among active players.
A first-team All-Pro in 2017, Campbell was also honored as the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year in 2019.
On Instagram, Campbell posted a photo of himself holding up a conference championship towel as a rookie after beating the Eagles in the 2008 playoffs.
In the caption, he wrote “What a story it would be! Started my career with a bang. Now it’s time to finish it with a bang back home where it first began!”
