Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has landed a new job with the Dallas Cowbots.

The Cowboys announced Tuesday that Eberflus will be their new defensive coordinator under newly appointed head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Eberflus spent the last three seasons as Chicago’s head coach, where he struggled to find success.

During his tenure, the Bears posted a 14-32 record, including a franchise-worst 14-game losing streak that spanned the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

His time in Chicago came to an end after a disastrous clock management blunder on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions.

This marks Eberflus’ second stint with the Cowboys.

He previously served as Dallas’ linebackers coach from 2011 to 2017 and was also their passing game coordinator from 2016 to 2017.

Following his time in Dallas, he became the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021 before taking the Bears’ head coaching job in 2022.

Although his tenure as a head coach was rocky, Eberflus has built a strong reputation as a defensive mind.

Now, he’s getting another shot to prove himself in Dallas.

Meanwhile, the Bears have already moved forward with a new coaching staff.

Ben Johnson was introduced as Chicago’s next head coach last Wednesday.

The Bears are also bringing in former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen as their defensive coordinator.
