The Miami Dolphins failed to make the playoffs after losing to the New York Jets 35-20 in Week 18. While speaking to the media after the game, Dolphins star wide receiver and eight-time Pro Bowler Tyreek Hill revealed that he needed to consider many things before deciding whether or not he would come back to Miami next season.
“I feel like at the end of the day, there’s a lot of things that I need to re-assess about my career,” Hill said while speaking to members of the press after the loss to New York. “I just need to see what I need to do to continue to get better as a player.”
Hill was clearly frustrated with the ‘Phins missing out on the 2024 postseason.
“This is my first time that I haven’t been in the playoffs, man,” he explained. “I mean, for me, like I said, I just have to do what’s best for me and my family. If that’s here or if that’s wherever the case may be. I’m going to open that door for myself. I’m opening the door.”

Hill then paused momentarily before bluntly exclaiming “I’m out.”
“It was great playing here,” he said as he shrugged his shoulders. “But at the end of the day, I’ve got to do what’s best for my career because I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”
After starting his career with the Chiefs, Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2022. After that trade was completed, Hill signed a four-year $120 million contract extension with the Dolphins that included $72.2 million guaranteed. This past summer, Hill signed a new deal with Miami for three years worth $90 million.
