NFL: Eagles Coach Sirianni Celebrates Second NFC Championship

"These guys are hungry, and we've got one more to go," he said.

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship Game to move on to Super Bowl LIX. This marks the fourth time in team history that Philly has advanced to the Super Bowl.

This is also Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni’s second NFC Championship win in the last three seasons. He spoke about how important it was for his team to turn things around after opening the season 2-2.

“This game is about adversity,” Sirianni said during the team’s post-game press conference. “There’s going to be good plays in the game. There’s going to be bad plays in the game. There’s going to be good moments in a season. There’s going to be bad moments in a season. It’s about overcoming and embracing the adversity. We’ve all had adversity to be in this moment… Adversity is what makes you who you are.”

He then acknowledged how the poor end to last season for Philly – a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round – set up success for this year.

“This has been the story of the 2023 to 2024 Eagles,” Sirianni explained. “As bad as a feeling we had about how last year ended, I think it makes you who you are. These guys are hungry, and we’ve got one more to go.”

He then ended the media conference by looking back on the relationship he has developed with starting quarterback Jalen Hurts.

“We’ve been through a lot together. A lot of wins. Some down times. But that’s what kind of forges relationships,” Sirianni said. “I don’t want anybody else leading this team at quarterback other than him. He’s a winner… He’s won his entire life. Winning at quarterback is more important than any stat that you go through… I’m proud of the way he went out there and battled today and played today. He doesn’t care about anything other than winning, and that’s selfless.”
