Former rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit is set to continue his dream of playing in the NFL by signing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to ESPN.
The 22-year-old was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs this week after teams had to cut their teams down to 53.
But the Welshman is on the verge of linking up with the Jags as part of their practice squad.
Each franchise has a 17-man group available to train with the NFL players during the week, but are not able to feature in the matches unless elevated to the main roster.
Rees-Zammit signed an initial three-year deal with the Chiefs as a running back having impressed as part of the International Player Pathway programme.
He played in all three of the Super Bowl champions’ pre-season matches, in a number of different positions.

As either a running back, wide receiver or on special teams, Rees-Zammit carried the ball six times in pre-season for 22 yards.
But even after trying out as a kicker, he did not make the final cut.
The Jaguars were one of several teams to express their interest in the player earlier in the year and will hold out hope that he can reach the standards required to thrive in the NFL.
Each franchise can have one player signed through the IPP programme on the practice squad.
The Chiefs already had Nigerian offensive tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick, which is part of the reason why Rees-Zammit missed out.
