NFL: Nabers to return for Giants after concussion

The rookie receiver was an injury concern.

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is set to return to NFL action after suffering a concussion recently.

The rookie sustained the injury during a game against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago and said that video footage showed him unconscious on the field after hitting the ground hard while trying to catch a pass from quarterback Daniel Jones.

Nabers dealt with headaches and throbbing in his head after the hit but did not mention any other symptoms.

Cleared from concussion protocol on Thursday, exactly two weeks after the injury, Nabers practiced with some limitations on Friday due to a groin issue he said had been bothering him since college.

Reflecting on the incident, Nabers said: “It was scary when I couldn’t remember what happened.

“I can’t remember the last play I was in, so yeah, it was kind of scary.”

Nabers has not been given an injury designation for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and he is expected to play a role.

During his time away, Nabers faced scrutiny on social media for attending a Travis Scott concert with teammate Isaiah Simmons while still in concussion protocol.

Nabers said he informed the Giants before going to the event and emphasised that he will continue to live his life.

He added: “Yeah, I’m going to always be myself, but at the end of the day, I still got my own life.

“I’m going to still continue to watch my back and I’m going to still continue to have my personal life.”
