Miami Dolphins franchise quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has agreed to a four-year extension, making him the third highest-paid player in his position across the NFL.
Tagovailoa will sign a $212.4million deal, the largest in Dolphins history.
It includes $167m guaranteed, eighth among other QBs in the league.
Miami are now the only franchise in the NFL with three offensive players making over $70m, with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle also high up on the payroll.
A new deal has been on the table since the end of the 2023 season and comes just two days into the Dolphins’ pre-season training camp, in which Tagovailoa was either a limited or non-participant.
He follows in the footsteps of Detriot Lions’ Jared Goff, who also penned an extension in the offseason.

Tagovailoa was selected at No.5 in the 2020 draft and the State’s hopes were thrown into the QB to end their wait for a Super Bowl.
Since 2000, over 25 players have started at QB, with only Ryan Tannehill signing an extension in that time.
He is their highest-drafted QB since 1980 and he has had a mixed career so far with the Dolphins.
He has missed a number of games due to injury since joining but in 2023 led the NFL with 4,,624 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes.
It was the first time he played in every match of a season and was named the AFC’s starting QB at the Pro Bowl.
Expectations now are for the Dolphins are to march onwards and upwards, with the first task being to win their first play-off match since the 2000 season.
