The Titans managed just three wins this season but will be keeping head coach Brian Callahan.

The Tennessee Titans have sacked general manager Ran Carthon following a disastrous 3-14 season that secured the team the No.1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk said in a statement:”It’s impossible to ignore that our football team hasn’t improved over the past two years.

“I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period.”

Brian Callahan will remain the Titans’ head coach despite the challenging season, while Chad Brinker, the president of football operations, will oversee the search for a new general manager.

Brinker outlined the qualities the franchise is seeking in its next GM during an interview with the team’s website: “This particular job, what we’ll be looking for is someone who has spent their career as a scout, is a top-flight, top-level evaluator who has spent the majority of their career projecting college players to the National Football League.

“They’ve had a major hand in setting the draft board in preferably a consistent, winning organization, and you can see their fingerprints all over the roster.”

While the incoming GM will handle day-to-day roster management, Brinker will retain “final authority” over football decisions, according to team president and CEO Burke Nihill.

“It is important to Amy to have absolute clarity in the football organisation,” Nihill explained.

“The general manager will have primary responsibility for overseeing the roster and the coaching staff, but Chad is the leader of the football program and will have the final authority on all football matters, including the roster.”

The new GM will be expected to work closely with the head coach in a more collaborative capacity.

Carthon joined the Titans in 2023 after the firing of former GM Jon Robinson midway through the previous season.

During his tenure, Tennessee experienced a seven-game losing streak that kept them out of the play-offs.

Carthon was later promoted to executive vice president alongside his GM role, but his time in Tennessee was marked by poor results.

The Titans went 6-11 in his first season and followed up with an even worse 3-14 record in 2024, the franchise’s lowest win total since 2015.

With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans are now under pressure to make better decisions.
