MLB All-Star Game: How to watch, starting pitchers, line-ups and betting offers

It's time for the Midsummer Classic with MLB's best facing off in Arlington

Globe Life Field

Tonight sees the latest instalment of one of American sport’s greatest traditions – MLB’s All-Star Game.

In these hectic, troubling times, it offers the perfect chance for a moment of calm, reflection and, hopefully, excitement as the best players in baseball slug it out in Arlington, Texas.

As always, the votes have been cast, the rosters announced and the managers have determined the batting orders.

So, let’s take a look at who is likely to shine!

Starting Pitchers

The National League will be represented by Paul Skenes, the Pittsburgh Pirates phenom who, after just 11 starts in his major league career, ties the record for the least experienced pitcher ever to start an All-Star game.

The 22-year-old comes in carrying a 1.90 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 66 1/3 innings.

“Pretty grateful to be in this position, to even be at an All-Star Game in the first place,” he said.

“Obviously, starting the year in Triple-A, the odds of going to the Major League All-Star game are pretty slim, so that wasn’t one of my goals necessarily or expectations for this season.

“It’s just a huge honor that I’m able to do it, after playing just a short span in the big leagues.”

He will line-up against the more experienced Corbin Burnes from the Baltimore Orioles.

Burnes is a four-time All-Star but this will be his first start.

He is 9-4 with a 2.43 ERA across his first 19 starts for the Orioles following his move from the Milwaukee Brewers.

“What he’s done this year in Baltimore, you know, they’re leading their division. He’s a big reason for that,” AL manager Bruce Bochy said. “In my mind, it’s just his time. It’s his time to start an All-Star Game. That’s why I chose him.”
