The 2024-25 NBA season tips off on Tuesday night with an exciting doubleheader to kick off proceedings.

NBA Championship Odds News
The odds of the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers challenging the Boston Celtics this season improved following significant acquisitions in the summer. The Knicks acquired both Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns in the summer, parting with Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Bojan Bogdanovic and a host of first-round picks to do so. The loss of Isaiah Hartenstein and Mitchell Robinson’s injury concerns led to the pursuit of big man Towns, while Bridges reunited — if only briefly — the Villanova trio of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and DiVincenzo, before the latter was included in the trade to bring Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
As for the Phliadelphia 76ers, they added Paul George in free agency, acquiring the All-Star forward after the 34-year-old was unable to come to terms on a new contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. George is one of a host of names to head to the 76ers roster this summer, who also added Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, Eric Gordon, Guerschon Yabusele and Jared McCain to add to their core of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. The 76ers have made their intentions known — its championship or bust, particularly with Embiid confirming he is unlikely to play back-to-back nights in an attempt to be healthy for the postseason.
In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s additions of Alex Caruso and former Knicks center Hartenstein has seen them usurp both last season’s Western Conference finals and the title winners from 2023, the Denver Nuggets, in the betting ranks. The Thunder were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Semifinals last season, but their young roster is expected to build on a positive season, spearheaded by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Both the Mavericks and Timberwolves have re-tooled this summer, with Dallas adding Klay Thompson to their ranks in free agency, while the aforementioned Randle and DiVincenzo add depth to Minnesota, as well as highly-touted draft prospect Rob Dillingham.
