The Lakers are now 3-1 for the season.

Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers were handed their first loss of the season against the Phoenix Suns on Monday.
Anthony Davis and LeBron James have kicked off the season with impressive performances but were undone for the first time in the new campaign.
The strong play on the West Coast has fueled optimism among fans for head coach JJ Redick’s squad, who took the blame for his side collapsing.

Davis excelled during the game, putting up 29 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.

Rui Hachimura also made a notable impact, scoring 20 points along with 10 rebounds and two assists.

LeBron James struggled offensively, going 3-of-14 from the field for 11 points, but he still contributed significantly with eight assists and five rebounds.

The NBA icon admitted after the game that he had been ill this weekend, but still wanted to play.

For the Suns, Kevin Durant led with 30 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Devin Booker added 33 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Davis currently ties for the highest points per game this season at 34, along with averages of 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and a shooting accuracy of 57.1%.

Although the Lakers took their first loss of the season on Monday, fans are energised by the team’s early efforts and many are giving him early shouts for MVP.

Next up, the Lakers will aim for a comeback win as they travel to Cleveland on Wednesday, where James will face the Cavaliers, who hold a perfect 4-0 record following a recent win over the New York Knicks.
