Steph Curry achieves new milestone before heated exchange with Rockets coach

Steph Curry had an eventful night in the Warriors' loss to the Rockets.

Steph Curry fell well below his usual standards shooting the ball in the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Houston Rockets, yet he still managed to write more NBA history.

The Warriors point guard went 1-10 shooting as the Warriors fell to 106-96 loss at Chase Center on Sunday.

His lone basket, a three-pointer from 37 feet, came in the final seconds of the first half, and it was enough to see him surpass Reggie Miller for 24th on the all-time scoring list.

Yet Curry was seemingly in no mood to celebrate that piece of history, as moments later he was involved in a heated exchange with Rockets coach Ike Udoka as the two teams left the floor.

Speaking after the game, however, both Curry and Udoka made light of the incident.

Curry joked that he took issue with Udoka because he cancelled a reservation at his wife Ayesha’s restaurant in San Francisco.

“He made a reservation at International Smoke, and he canceled it,” said Curry in his postgame press conference. “And so I was kind of upset with him. We went back and forth on that.”

Udoka had a similarly light-hearted response to questions about their animated discussion.

“He said something. I said something. Just some friendly banter,” Udoka explained.

Udoka was the head coach of the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals, which the Warriors won by four games to two. Curry was named Finals MVP for the first time in his career.

They could face each other in the playoffs. The Rockets occupy second in the Western Conference with a 52-27 record.

Golden State, meanwhile, is in a four-way tie for the fifth seed having dropped to 46-32, leaving the Warriors with work to do to avoid having to feature in the play-in tournament.
