Warriors v Knicks: Draymond Green praises ‘unbelievable’ Steph Curry after Golden State win

Golden State are on their longest winning streak of the season

Draymond Green has called Steph Curry “special” after the pair helped the Golden State Warriors beat the New York Knicks in the NBA to give their team a seventh straight victory and head coach Steve Kerr the most wins in the history of the franchise.

Forward Green beat the Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns off the dribble to provide the decisive lay-up with under 26 seconds remaining in the Warriors’ 97-94 win at the Chase Center, celebrating with Curry’s signature ‘Night Night’ celebration in tribute to his team-mate, who top-scored for Golden State with 28 points.

“It actually just came to me once I laid the ball up – I saw Steph and thought ‘it’s time’,” Green said of his reaction. “At least, I think that’s what happened – sometimes I’m just lost in the moment.

“It was really fun. Before, we just didn’t have the size to match the physicality they play with. Now we do, and it makes the game a lot more manageable and fun to play in.”

Steve Kerr: Golden State Warriors record

Kerr’s 558th win of his coaching career puts him ahead of the late Al Attles for the most in Warriors’ history, with 302 defeats giving the 59-year-old a win ratio of almost 65 percent.

Green, who posted a season-high 23 points in Warriors’ 130-104 win over the Sacramento Kings on Friday, revealed how Curry is an important personal confidante for him.

“I text him happy birthday the other day [Friday],” said Green. “I was telling him that I was thankful to have him in my life, he’s a sounding board for me and when I’m looking for the right answer, I always know who to turn to – he always tells me the right thing to do.

“I deleted it because I didn’t want it to come off the wrong way. You never know how a text comes off – there’s no tone in it, so it can come off wrong.

“But he always knows the right thing to do – it’s unbelievable. His moral compass is insane. That’s just a special dude.”

Moses Moody ‘stayed course’ –  Green

Shooting guard Moses Moody hit four three-pointers for the second consecutive game on his way to 18 points and has been on the losing side once in the 19 games he has played for the Warriors.

“His attention to detail is just way greater than it was,” Green said of the 22-year-old. “Moses came here [in 2021] having played six months of college basketball, having to learn a lot.

“The first three years is tough to make it in this league. He’s stayed the course, regardless of what noise was around him. He’s not going anywhere now – he’s there to stay.”
