Match Preview
Colombia can book their passage to the quarter-finals of the Copa America with victory over Costa Rica in Arizona on Friday night (11pm BST).
The 2-1 win over Paraguay in their opening Group D fixture has them ahead of Brazil and Costa Rica, who shared a surprising stalemate in the early hours of Tuesday in Los Angeles.
If they can see-off their Concacaf opponents then Colombia would seal a sixth straight quarter-final appearance.
The omens look good, they have won nine straight matches dating back to 2022, and if they make that 10 it will mean they have won consecutive group games at the Copa America for the first time since 2019 when they last topped their group.
It would also take the pressure off their final-round clash with Brazil if they can seal their progress in their opening two matches.
Costa Rica were the last Concacaf opponent to beat Colombia in a Copa America, edging a 3-2 win in Houston in the 2016 edition.
Costa Rica rode their luck in the goalless draw with Brazil, having less than 30% of possession and surrendering 19 shots, but they did become only the third side from their region to keep Brazil from scoring, following Honduras in 2001 and Mexico in 2007.
They are four matches unbeaten and three games without conceding but face a stiff test against Colombia who have managed 13 goals in their last four games and who have won nine of the 11 meetings between the nations all-time.
