Euro 2024 is grabbing much of the attention in the footballing landscape right now but in a few days the Copa America will also get started.
The very best sides from North and South America will descend on the United States to battle for a trophy last won by Argentina in 2021.
Lionel Messi’s 2022 World Cup-winning side are favourites to secure their third consecutive major international triumph but are not short of competition from rivals Brazil.
Elsewhere, the likes of Uruguay. Mexico, Colombia and hosts USA can all be considered darks horses.

Argentina and Brazil are overwhelmingly considered the two main contenders and are on opposite sides of the draw, meaning a final between the two big hitters is on the cards.

USA will host the tournanent for only the second time and are being labelled by some as dark horses to watch.

Tournament Preview
It is hard to look past either Argentina or Brazil triumphing this summer, such is the talent at both teams’ disposal.
Argentina will repeat the heroics of Spain betwen 2008 and 2012 by winning a World Cup sandwiched by two continental tournaments.
Brazil won the last of their nine titles in 2019 but come into the tournament on the back of a haphazard run of results, having won just two of their eight games since October.
Neither have the easiest group, however, with Argentina’s Group A containing Peru, Chile and Canada, all of whom will have aspirations of reaching the knockout stage.
Meanwhile, Brazil also have plenty of potential banana skins awaiting them against Colombia, Paraguay and Costa Rice in Group D.
There are a handful of outsiders but Uruguay are perhaps the side with the best chance of winner from outside the established two.
The 15-time winners are on a roll under former Leeds boss Bielsa, recently beating both Brazil and Argentina in World Cup qualifying.
It will be battle between them and USA in Group C to finish top and likely avoid Brazil. Though with Colombia the likely runners-up in Group D, the path to the semi-finals is not easy for either.
For Mexico, the aim will be to Group B and avoiding Argentina in the quarter-finals – with Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica awaiting them.
With the 16-team format offering so many twists and turns, there are sure to be plenty of shocks coming along the way.
