Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says he has retired from boxing.
The Gypsy King went on social media to make the announcement this afternoon.
He said: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it.
“I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side. GET UP!”

Second Usyk defeat could be last fight
Fury last fought in December when he lost a second clash with Ukraine’s WBA (Super), WBC and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
He was expected to take on long-time British rival Anthony Joshua this summer at Wembley Stadium with promoter Eddie Hearn revealing yesterday he had booked the iconic venue for the pair to finally get it on after years of verbal sparring.
Hearn said: “Yes. We’re looking to get back in the ring in May or June. If it ended up being July, it doesn’t really matter.
“I still think it rests on Tyson Fury. Until the water settles on the defeat [to Usyk] and where he’s at mentally and what he wants to do, that’s where we’re really going to find out.
“Because when he looks at the options, what else is he going to do and who else is he going to fight?”
If he is to be believed then it seems Fury has opted to walk away from the Joshua bout and another monster pay day.
He has retired before…
Sceptics, however, will note it is not the first time the outspoken 36-year-old has said he has quit and the remarks about Dick Turpin – a British highwayman who stole from the rich and gave to the poor – hints it may be an attempt to get a better purse against Joshua.
In 2022, Fury said he was walking away after beating Dillian Whyte.
At the time, he said: “I am done. Every good dog has its day. Like the great Roman leader said, there will always be someone else to fight. When is enough, enough?
“I am happy, I am healthy. I still have my brains, I can talk, I have a beautiful wife, I have six kids, umpteen belts.
“I have plenty of money, success, fame, glory, what more am I doing it for?”
Back to face Chisora – again
Six months later he was back in the ring, beating Derek Chisora for a third time to set up a clash with former MMA star Francis Ngannou.
He came off the canvas to beat Ngannou but could not find a way past Usyk in their first meeting in May 2024, losing on a split decision to suffer the first defeat of his career.
Fury activated his rematch clause but was beaten again via a unanimous decision.
If this really is it, Fury will retire with a record of 34 wins, one draw and two defeats.
