Floyd Mayweather breaks silence after footage of boxing legend being ‘attacked by mob’ in London

A video emerged on social media of Mayweather getting in a heated exchange in Hatton Garden

Floyd Mayweather has broken his silence after footage emerged of the boxing legend appearing to be confronted by an angry mob in London.

A video emerged on X of the former world champion Mayweather, 47, shopping in London jewellry quarter before he got into a heated exchange with several people on the street.

With tensions appearing to rise, the American was seen having a heated discussion with a member of the crowd before he was escorted away from the scene and bundled into a 4X4 by a member of his security team.

Rumours on social media suggested the confrontation may have been sparked by his support for Isreal, while there had been suggestions that a member of the public ‘took a swing’ at the seven-weight champion.

But in a statement his Instagram, Mayweather said there was “no truth” to those rumours.

“Let me set the record straight… there’s no truth to the rumours going around,” his statement said.

“I wasn’t punched or touched in any way. What you’re seeing is just my security doing their job to keep things under control.

“I was in the UK for a quick 48-hour stop to do some shopping, and unfortunately, people let jealousy and negativity fuel false stories.

“I’m perfectly fine, and there’s really nothing more to it.”

Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2015 but returned in 2017 to fight mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor, which after his victory left him undefeated at 50-0.

Since then, he has taken part in a number of exhibition fights, going up against YouTuber Logan Paul and Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers.
