Warren eyeing Dubois vs Usyk rematch after Joshua KO

The Brit stunned Wembley by knocking out Anthony Joshua.

Daniel Dubois

Daniel Dubois, the IBF heavyweight champion, possesses “all the tools” to dominate the heavyweight division, according to his promoter, Frank Warren.

Warren is eager to see Dubois challenge WBO, WBA, and WBC champion Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch, following Dubois’ impressive victory over fellow Brit Anthony Joshua on Saturday.

The two fighters previously met in August 2023, where Usyk emerged victorious with a ninth-round stoppage.

Dubois, 27, was elevated to the IBF champion after Usyk vacated the title in June, just weeks after a historic win over Tyson Fury, making him the first undisputed heavyweight boxing champion in 25 years.

Speaking to BBC 5 Live, Warren said: “The fight I would like to see him in now is Usyk again.

“He is a different Daniel Dubois, he is more mature physically and mentally.

“He will go from strength to strength. He will be here for a while, he is a young man and has all the tools to take this division over.”

Warren remains open to the possibility of a rematch between Dubois and Joshua and says he will sit down to discuss it with his fighter.

He added: “There is a clause [for a rematch with Joshua] in his contract but not in ours. But that’s not to say we wouldn’t do it. It’s something we’ll sit down and discuss.”

Usyk, who was ringside at Wembley for the fight, is currently preparing for his rematch with Tyson Fury on December 21.

Their first encounter in 2023 sparked controversy when Dubois knocked Usyk down in the fifth round.

The referee, however, ruled it a low blow, giving Usyk nearly four minutes to recover.

“Dubois lost his composure [after the incident],” Warren said.

“I think that was down to the fact he was a bit younger and he probably did not have the ring savviness to deal with it. But now he is a different guy altogether, as you saw on Saturday night.”
